This webinar will provide information that is essential in diagnosing today's OBD II vehicles.

• In late 2010 the SAE J2012 Task Force which defines all generic emission-related Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) determined that the space dedicated to Powertrain DTCs would be depleted by MY2020.

• SAE then worked with CARB and the International Standards Organization (ISO) to allow implementation of an enhanced scheme of DTC definition based on the ISO standard #14229 - Unified Diagnostic Services (UDS). In addition to DTC updates, CARB asked for some enhanced features related to J1979-type data. CARB, SAE and ISO worked together to provide an emissions-only subset of ISO 14229 and it is embodied in SAE J1979-2 and updates to SAE J2012.
