Peter Meier
Pete began writing for Motor Age magazine in 2006 as a free-lance contributor and joined the magazine full-time in 2010 as Technical Editor. He approached his daily work with one primary purpose. “What can he do today that will help a working technician earn a better living and provide a better life for his/her family?” That is his driving force, and mission.
He is an ASE certified Master Automotive Technician, with over 35 years of experience working on a wide variety of brands. Having worked as a technician for most of my life, He understands the challenges that current technicians face. Pete also understood that the print issue of our great publication often stops at the boss’s desk – and never makes it to the guys and gals in the shop!
He goes where the techs go. Pete was instrumental in taking the Motor Age brand to social media. He also started the brand’s YouTube channel, producing training and informational content aimed at the automotive professional. The channel now boasts 55,000+ subscribers.
From there, he launched “live” streaming webinars, where Pete and my friends at TST present training topics in a real shop environment, taking questions from viewers as we go. The recorded version is then archived for later viewing. Our first webinar had over 800 registrants and even seven years later, our now Pay-Per-View offerings consistently bring in good numbers.
Specialties: Pete automotive skills are primarily in electrical/electronic troubleshooting and the diagnosis of engine performance/drivability issues. He is an ASE Master technician and considers himself capable in all areas of automotive repair. He also experienced in the classroom and training center, both as a training developer and presenter. His ten years’ experience producing video content and streaming webinars have also helped developed his skills in video production from concept to final product.
